The UK is obviously one of the most famous destination in Europe. Millions of tourists flock to London - one of the most popular cities on Earth. Nearly all travel blogs say something about London. I, in turn, decided to leave London out - there's so many posts and articles about it online that I thought there's no point in adding yet another one. I'd just like to mention that, similarly to Paris, due to the expectations set extremely high, London disappointed me.
On this page, I'd like to focus on the less known and obvious places to see in the UK. You'll be surprised how beautiful and unique places can be found in the UK, yet they are virtually unknown among ordinary people. Did you know about the Northern Ireland's Giant Causeway - a portion of the coast filled with natural, octagonal columns of various sizes? Or about the Coral Beach in Scotland's Isle of Skye? But most likely, the thing that will surprise you the most are the Cornwall's paradise beaches and beautiful cozy towns that can easily compete with those in Spain or Portugal! It is so worth it to leave the beaten path and start discovering places seemingly so well known to find such spectacular hidden gems!
To discover more, have a look at the posts below:
Giant's Causeway is obviously the most exceptional landmark of Northern Ireland. Looking at the hexagonal basalt columns, of different height and size, with perfectly even sides, it's difficult to believe that they were formed only by natural processes. Their resemblance to ancient ruins may lead you to believe that some mystical beings created this phenomenon a long time ago. No wonder, in the course of the centuries, many legends and myths came into existence in relation to the origin of the eerie formations. Moreover, not far away from Giant's Causeway, you can walk over the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and admire the cliffs, crashing waves and rugged coastline
Visitors who come to the UK usually head straight to London, oblivious to the little piece of heaven - Cornwall. Cornwall, in my opinion, is the most stunning and picturesque part of the UK. It's not that touristic (not counting the local tourists from the UK itself) and it has all the qualities of the British Isles plus something extra - the incredible, paradise beaches - beaches you would never guess are actually in the UK! Cornwall is extremely colorful and dotted with exceptionally beautiful little towns. It's a perfect gateway for those who love hiking, adventure, off the beaten path destinations and breathtaking natural scenery. We have driven all over the coast of Cornwall and in this post I'd like to share my favorite and most spectacular spots in this southwestern tip of the UK.
